Juan Camacho

Biography

His father, Juan, came to do some training with the Torrejón Cycling Club, but he did not continue for lack of economic support. He has always rode with the grupeta from Moral de Calatrava, where he made his son debut with 7 years old. One day they went to see a school race in Almagro, Juan liked it and signed up for the Valdepeñas Cycling Club, where he ran until cadets. His first junior year was spent at the Fenavin in Ciudad Real and the second at the Castillo de Onda Team, until signing with the Alberto Contador Foundation in his first year under 23.

This year, in his first season as an elite cyclist, has achieved his dream of being professional. Juan is a rouleur attracted by the classic and thime trial races. His power and physique help him to maintain a good position in the group and also to lend a hand to teammates when they need it.

Runner-up in 2014 Spanish time trial Championship, was selected for the Ponferrada’s Worlds, where he made a more than worthy classification (eighteenth) in his first year as U23. This year is called to be one of the pillars of the Continental Polartec-Kometa.

Since finishing High School he decided to focus on cycling. He studies English and does not rule out studying any discipline related to sport in the future.

Juan has a sister five years younger, María, and lives with his family in Ocaña the last eight years. During the winter he likes to go out with the grupeta on the mountain bike. He would love to win an European Champioship or a Time trial World Championship.
