About us

Tempus fugit. Time is fleeting. In the twinkling of an eye the 2018 season has gone down in history. The first year of life of the continental team of the Alberto Contador Foundation has been positive and productive, with eleven victories on the roads, some of the importance of the one obtained in the Tour of Burgos or the Tour of Hungary and the immense satisfaction of seeing a runner with the talent of Matteo Moschetti promoted to the ‘WorldTour’ category.

Looking ahead to 2019, the continental team has changed its name, Kometa Cycling Team, since January 1st, but its ambitions, objectives and also its role as the Trek-Segafredo development team remain intact.

The staff of the second year of existence of the team is once again very young, with an average age of just over 20.6 years, and is again made up of eleven riders; eleven cyclists from Spain, Italy, Luxembourg and Portugal. José Antonio García and the Portuguese Daniel Viegas, both from the U23 team, and two transalpine talents such as Samuele Rubino and Antonio Puppio, who are joined by Stefano Oldani, who already made his first steps in the formation as a stagiaire during the second half of the season, are the new faces of the squad.

The new project of the Kometa Cycling Team is the last step in the demanding path to achieve in the near future one of the great desires within the Alberto Contador Foundation: to create a high level professional team of its own. On the road to this objective, a dream for the future, a very clear present where the origins and the integral support to basic cycling are never forgotten, which is the leitmotiv of this project since its beginnings, seven seasons ago.

Un saludo

Alberto Contador
