The latest initiative of the Alberto Contador Foundation has been to launch its first professional team, the Continental Polartec-Kometa, which started its journey in 2018 as a development team of Trek-Segafredo.
With a very young workforce of only 11 riders, the goal is to help mature some of the most promising talents in world cycling. That is why it’s a team with cyclists of many nationalities, from Italy, Spain, Luxembourg, Holland, Eritrea, Colombia and Austria.
The Continental Polartec-Kometa is also the germ of what the Alberto Contador Foundation aims to achieve in the future: create its own high-level professional team. This is the first step towards that goal, never forgetting the origins, the integral support to base cycling, which is the leitmotiv of this project since its inception, six seasons ago.
